Worms and Speyer

After Heidelburg, we made two stops on the way to Strasbourg:  Worms and Speyer.  These cities are very close, but actually with traffic and a few missed turns, it took us all afternoon.

In Worms, we visited the famous cathedral.  http://www.sacred-destinations.com/germany/worms-cathedral
This website explains: During the Middle Ages, numerous visits from the Emperor and many important events, some with serious political consequences, took place in the cathedral and it surroundings.
  This explains the crypts...

 The crypts of bishops, etc.

this is a model of what the cathedral looked like 1000 years ago...

These walls of "seating" were on each side of the altar.

In Speyer we did the same...visit the famous old Cathedral which was a burial site for Kings.
this led to the crypt of the kings...at least 8-10 kings from 900-1100's AD
This interesting iron candle stand had unique wooden images...
